The control panel (XXBT, Magelis or BIOS-pc) of the switchboard displays the number of clicks, made by the counter wheel. These clicks relate to the length of the bale. After a number of pre-set clicks, the bale is tied off. The number of clicks is shown only small on the control panel and can only be read at the switchboard. But bale length is displayed in large figures so it is possible to read the value and therefore the length of the bale from a distance.
