We are looking for R&D Mechatronics Engineer for the R&D team.

Location: Groningen, NL

What will be your role?

As an R&D Mechatronics Engineer, you will be responsible for developing software and assembling hardware for new products and applications. You will work in a multidisciplinary team of R&D engineers. Together you will work on the latest technologies in the world of waste sorting and recycling. A technically broad and challenging multidisciplinary position.

Your main duties:

• Integral supervision of new and ongoing R&D projects.

• Customer and cost conscious design of development projects.

• Writing the software of new machines.

• Working out / figuring out the hardware in consultation with the hardware department.

• Supervising and supporting the installation of new machines and prototypes at customers.

• Connecting prototypes in existing systems / standalone.

• Sparring with the Safety Expert on safety requirements and the safety of new machines and prototypes and implementing these requirements.

• Collect feedback and data from customers on new machines and prototypes.

• Create, maintain and collect project documentation

Who are you?

You are an extroverted and entrepreneurial engineer. You dare to take ownership and guide colleagues and customers in R&D projects. You have good communication skills and dare to put forward and defend your point of view. You remain constructive and give others space. You have strong foundation of electrical knowledge, but are also passionate about software. It is important that you are open to learning new skills / knowledge in the field of software and hardware given the continuous development of technology. You enjoy solving complex engineering issues, but you are also open to variety with simpler tasks, such as general machine control and small adjustments in an HMI. On the one hand, you are creative in coming up with solutions and on the other hand, you work in a structured way so that documentation is complete and in order.

What do you bring?

• You have bachelor+/university level cognitive ability and working ability.

• You completed education in the field of Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.

• You have good commercial skills, you are price and cost conscious, stress resistant, structured and also able to build good relationships for long-term cooperation.

• You are familiar with PLC programming in Structured Text, HMI development (C#, HTML, JavaScript and CSS) and you are able to do basic programming in C/C++.

• You have solid knowledge of electronic systems (including 3 phase controls, machine directive and EMC).

• Several years of experience in a technical and/or project driven (production) environment is a plus.

• Command of the English language at a professional level. Command of the German, Dutch and/or French language is an advantage.

• Possession of NEN3140 & VOL VCA certificate is an advantage.

• Experience with EPLAN is an advantage.
